Building - Structure and floor - Structural profile, purlin, framing - Production rooms (high humidity and air pollution) [C3, Ai3]

Important specification
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Mechanical properties
Recommendation

Beside their structural role ensured by steel mechanical properties, purlins must resist to corrosion, as all other building components. This is why ArcelorMittal propose steel protected by performing metallic and organic coatings.

Steel grade, dimensions and zinc coating mass must be selected according to the construction regulations (European and country standards) and loading calculation. Purlins and girts can be manufactured from high tensile steel for increased strength and reduced weight (like S390, S420, S450 and S550).

The zinc-magnesium coating Magnelis®, much more performing than a classical hot dip galvanised (up to 10 times according to lab tests), will provides a long life under all circumstances. A Magnelis® with a coating mass of 120g/sqm can replace and outperform the Z275 usually used for this application.

By choosing ArcelorMittal best in class products, you can extend the life time of the building system. You make the choice of a guaranteed quality and sustainability, as our products are certified without chromates and heavy metals (compliant with REACh European regulation and ECCA Premium label).
